Maine

Our first big hiking adventure together! We had been dating only 3 months and decided to go on a 3 day hike. I was thrown into a great adventure; even though I was hesitant about roughing it without makeup with someone whom I just started dating. I did bring my large wooden hairbrush and discovered that was a mistake, since I would be carrying my heavy backpack for a couple days. 🙂 We hit the road to Maine in the wee hours of the morning with Chris volunteering to drive.  Along the way Chris woke me up after he stopped at Screw Auger Falls to take in the breathtaking views. We climbed on the huge rocks and played around in the waterfalls.

We hiked the in Grafton Notch State Park following the Appalachian Trail to the both the East and West summit of Baldpate Mountain, we stopped on our way down at a lean-to to setup our tent for the night.  Well into Bear Country we hung our food in the trees. The next morning we woke up bright and early and resumed our hike back to the road. We sidetracked to Table Rock and I leaped for joy at outcrop; while Chris ventured closer and closer to the end of the cliff.

Heavy packs left in the car we had to squeeze 1 more hike in.  We knew this hike would be worth is as we tightly gripped the cable railing and ladders on the path of the Eyebrow Loop and climbed in and out of the trail’s fairytale-ish roots that littered the path.

No visit to Maine would be complete without a stop at Sebago Lake and Portland for some relaxation and lobster. This place really is vacationland!
