The morning of Black Friday Amanda snuck away for a long walk around the farm taking pictures of many places well beyond my limited world of the loading yard.
Post Turkey Day the atmosphere of the farm was different it was a bit more relaxed, yet the intensity of the loading yard was higher than ever. Christmas season officially begun and the number of semis increased to 6 or 7 per day. With approximately 600 trees per truck this was extremely taxing physically to move almost ten thousand trees per day, but keeping up with cutting and managing the inventory of loading yard was a daily struggle.
The mood was also somber over the past few days since Regis left for Chicago. Regis was a calming force on the yard, many times seeing issues as they crept up and addressing them quickly. The Friday evening tamales that he would purchase for the labor were sorely missed.
