The Life of Luxury on Florida’s Atlantic Coast

From old friends to new, we left Kate’s house and rode east to the ocean and A1A in Ft. Lauderdale. Our ride up the coast was a mix of great white sand beach views and massive hedges hiding the houses of those with more money than necessary. David and Robert Katz, Debbie & John’s friends, invited us for dinner and to spent the night. Grateful for a good meal and safe place to sleep we rode eager to meet them.

The Wild West of Florida??
Ft. Lauderdale.  Our first view of the Atlantic Ocean since Charleston.
Oceanfront lunch and private beach access.  Who owns the beach?  FL doesn’t know.
Riding through a tunnel of trees. (PS: Stay off my yard you peasants.)
The always different and always spectacular Florida sunset.

We arrive in South Palm Beach as the sun was putting on its final performance for the day, illuminating the westward sky in a plethora of color.  David met us at the door and escorted us to their home on the top floor.   We were equally spoiled by the incredible hospitality and endless views of the city lights and last glimpses of the days light.  Roberta stuffed us with a feast fit for the Queen of England and then sent us to bed in luxurious comfort.  It is a blessing to have a network of kinfolk looking out for us.  Thank you Katz’s!!
