Chris was craving a hike, since he didn’t get to partake in my hiking adventures the day before. We jumped on what we thought was the skyline trail. We hiked for a while before discovering that the trail came to a dead end, running into railroad tracks. We doubled back and found our way to the correct […]
Hawk Falls I set out to Hawk Falls, while the rest of the group played paintball. I ventured into the woods a little apprehensive because this was my first solo hike. I wandered around the meandering trail lined with rhododendrons and discovered a beautiful naturally made 25 foot waterfall at the end of the trail. […]
For Chris’s 28th birthday, I decided to take him to a farm and put him to work at Mountain Dale Farm in McClure Pennsylvania. We arrived in the evening and after getting stuck in the snow, we turned in early so we could get up with the sunrise to help out on the farm. After […]
Our first group hike with my sister during Thanksgiving break was on the Appalachian Trail in Duncannon, PA. It was an easy hike despite veering off the trail and climbing some boulders. Venturing back on the trail with the help of a seasoned AT hiker, we made it to the top of the ridge, which overlooks […]
Chasing leaves… We came to Promised Land State Park on a tip from a prior camping trip and caught the last of the leaves changing different shades of yellow, red, and orange. The trail snaked around Conservation Island, offering beautiful views of the lake while reflecting the changing beech, maple, hemlock, and oak trees off the surface. […]
Off to see the “Niagara of Pennsylvania”, also known as Bushkill Falls. The scenery was littered with beautiful waterfalls, but the “hike” was mediocre. Pushing past groups of people that thought they were “hiking” was a little frustrating, but is was a nice day and we still enjoyed our walk on the wooden platforms. At […]
Let’s learn about history! We decided to talk a nice walk around Valley Forge National Park, which was home to the American Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. We saw replicated structures of where General George Washington and his army camped during the long harsh winter of 1777-1778. After our day of exploration at Valley […]
We were visiting the parents again and needed to stretch our legs. Chris discovered the Boyd Big Tree Conservation Area, a 1000-acre mature tree sanctuary that straddles Blue Mountain. The DCNR website says this area is a good place to see wild flowers and warblers. We will have to some back.
We celebrated Chris’s 27th birthday by hiking on the AT to the summit at The Pinnacle. This was our first snow hike together and it proved a bit more challenging than we expected. We had fun making a partial snowman on the way up. We discovered a few additions by other hikers on the way […]
We decided to do a little hike near my parents house on the Appalachian Trail. We had gorgeous views at the top of the graffiti marked rocks. After the hike we went wine tasting with mom, who tried to take us across the Susquehanna River on a closed ferry.
